Yangjiang at Night

Some more flash photography on the streets. I’m really starting to like this style of street photography.  I walked halfway across Yangjiang searching for interesting street scenes after dinner.  I worked up a pretty good sweat with the high temperature & humidity.  The “real feel” temperature that day was 103 degrees.

The blurred background in these images is caused by “dragging the shutter” during the exposure.  My camera was set on “fill flash”, which opens the shutter for the metered length of time (in this case a long time because it was dark), then the flash would fire to fill the necessary exposure requirement.  Everything near the camera is in focus and sharp because of the flash, but the background is blurred because I was moving or the cars were moving during a long exposure.  Nice motion effect.
