Beijing – Strange Food

We found a small alley just off a main shopping district that I began calling “Scorpion Alley” because of one of the treats served there.

I ate a couple sticks of deep fried scorpions. Tasted like bugs. The legs get stuck between your teeth.

Other treats: sea horses, insect larvae, centipedes

Boiled cow stomach strips. Like most things, it tastes better with hot sauce.

We pull taffy in the US. China uses sledge hammers to make candy.

Menu. Very reasonable prices for bugs.

Advertising ugly food or lost-in-translation?

Bad aim in Beijing. The trash can was empty.

Chicken McNugge. Funny McTypo. I almost got kicked-out for taking this photo.

Icons of Architecture: Birds Nest Stadium, Water Cube, McDonalds
