Macau 2.16

I’ve driven by Macau about 30 times over the last four years and each time I think “I should make a side trip to Macau sometime”.  Well this year I finally pulled the trigger and spent a couple days in the old city a few days before Chinese New Year.  It was a mob scene.

There are two sides to Macau – the old Portuguese city that dates back to the 1400’s, and the glitzy casinos that have become the economic engine that supports the city.  We spent all of our time in the old city touring museums, cathedrals and eating Portuguese food.  It was amazing.  Unfortunately the city was packed with pre-CNY shoppers.  The shopping streets were barely passable, but we still had a great time.  There was a break in the crappy weather and I got out with the camera.
