After spending a month this summer photographing the people in a small village outside of Ningbo, I returned in October to continue my mission of taking environmental street portraits of the inhabitants. As has become my custom, I returned with prints of the portraits to give to anyone who volunteered. Apparently my project went viral because I had mothers chasing me down in the streets to take photos of their children. I’ve shot over one hundred portraits now – including the oldest person in the village. She’s 98 years old lady who still lives alone in a one-room house.
All of the square photos were taken using the Mamiya 6 and Portra 400 film. The rectangular photos used a Fuji Klasse and Fujicolor 200 film.
