I’m amazed at how technology is taking over people’s lives in China, much in the same way it has in the US. The boys in China are glued to smart phones and computer screens just like in the US. Their faces are illuminated by the dim glow from games. The boys were so engrossed in their games I was able to walk up to them, blast off 5-6 frames, then walk away unnoticed. They were oblivious the American photographer with the big camera.
I went to the local computer mall with my friend Mike to buy some test gauges for plastic material and brought my camera along. These computer malls in China are a geek’s paradise. They’re poorly lit, dirty, unorganized and wonderful. Fortunately for this photographer they didn’t stock photo gear (I’m done for a while!). The computer mall doubles as a daycare center for all of the moms working there. There were babies / toddlers / young kids everywhere, many playing on the computers. Some perhaps destined to become the Steve Jobs or Bill Gates of tomorrow.
