Photography is all about capturing light. At night most modern cameras struggle because digital sensors don’t perform well in low light conditions. A camera’s focusing mechanism also requires light to create a contrasting target. My current Nikon D7000 does a great job during the day and in the studio – where there’s light. Not so much at night. The performance of the smaller DX sensor really falls apart at about ISO 800. These images required a lot of help in Lightroom / Photoshop to cancel the noise (grain). If only I could hit the lotto and buy a full-frame sensor Nikon D800. Camera lust.
