While I was waiting for a late afternoon meeting with a factory representative I decided to kill some time at a local park in ChangAn. I sat at various benches for about 3 hours taking photos and meeting people.
I met an interesting guy from Ghana who was teaching English at a local private school. We both shared our observations about ChangAn and passions in life. I told him about how I enjoyed street photography in China and he told me about his favorite .357 handgun that he liked to polish and keep under his dashboard for protection. Yeah…
My goal for the day was to test my 85mm f1.4 lens by shooting wide open for minimal depth of field (ie. background is totally blurred). This is especially tough considering I own a manual focus 85mm lens and I was shooting moving targets.
Anyway, I got some nice shots of a homeless guy who walked up to my lens so I could take his photo – for a modeling fee (US$1.00). He was so close to the lens I had to lean backwards to find focus. He was at the inner distance for focusing the lens, so the full-face image below is full frame. Lots of crusty detail.
