I zig-zagged in and out of Hong Kong a few times on this trip, each time taking analog photos and getting the film processed/scanned at Dotwell in TST. I used both a Hasselblad C/M and Mamiya 6 for these – which is why everything is square.
I really enjoy shooting the old neon signs in HK using Cinestill 800T film. It gives these old beauties a cinematic appearance. Every year there are fewer neon signs because they are expensive to maintain and repair. Most are getting replaced with LED signs after they break.
My last stop in HK was on January 24th, which is right when the coronavirus was beginning to explode. I consider myself extremely fortunate that I was able to leave when I did. If I had stayed one more week and it would have been a challenge to get home.
