On the way in and out of China I always stay in Hong Kong. It’s one of my favorite cities in the world. It has everything I need. On a recent trip I woke up early because of jet lag and grabbed some shots as the sun was rising. The harbor was quiet, the lights were off in the buildings, and the sun had just come up over the horizon. The clouds formations made the sky as interesting as the buildings. There wasn’t much color, so I converted some of the photos to B&W to give them a more graphic look.
My hotel room was upgraded because I checked-in very late. Ironically I was given the honeymoon suite on the 19th floor – exactly 1 month after my divorce was final. Weird.
TRAVEL NOTE: I only seem to get upgraded when I’m traveling alone and staying in the hotel for a very brief period. The experience isn’t as wonderful as you may think…I also took a few interesting shots at the Hong Kong airport on the way out of town. That is the most photogenic airport I’ve ever seen in my travels.
