Boys Night Out

So, after eating dinner at a Thai restaurant, a German guy and three Americans walk into a German bar in China owned by a guy from Scotland.

Sounds like the build-up to a joke, but it accurately describes my evening last night. We started at a Thai restaurant in Tangxi where we met Fan Fan (Number 13), a waitress that spoke English she learned watching US television shows on the internet.  She wasn’t the first TV-taught Chinese person that I’ve met.  She was a lot fun to talk with because she doesn’t get to practice her English very much.  We dragged her manager into our little party so he wouldn’t get mad with her for spending time at our table.

After a few warm-up rounds of beer at the restaurant we moved to a bar where we’re friends with the owner.  After polishing off a pony keg of nice German beer, the crowd (but not me) moved on to exotic mixed drinks (China smog), tequila shots and flaming martinis.  Later in the evening my photography skills began getting compromised, but we all had a blast.  Never a dull time in Qingxi.
